If you’re reading this, you probably already know me. (Hi, love you.)
I’m a mom of three hilarious boys, wife to a man who treats group chats like an Olympic sport, a founder, entrepreneur, amateur gardener, artist, and hardcore hobbyist of... honestly, everything.
So why a Substack?
Because I needed a place to put all the stuff bouncing around in my head. I'm always learning, building, reading five books at once — and lately, playing with AI tools to see what they can unlock for creativity and storytelling.
I crave sharing what I’m learning. I do it when I see you in person, but I need a bigger megaphone to reach everyone I want to reach.
Now, the name — DaVinci and Me.
A few years ago, I was deep in a book about Leonardo da Vinci — the O.G. creative genius. The author made the case that he almost definitely had ADHD and dyslexia. I wanted my son, Donovan, to know that the way his brain works isn’t a problem. It’s a superpower for him, just like it was for da Vinci.
I told him, "You have a brain like Leonardo da Vinci."
He lit up.
The next day he came home from school devastated because nobody believed he actually had da Vinci’s brain.
Fair. He does not.
But he does have a brain like da Vinci’s — wildly creative, full of energy, obsessed with life.
After some more explaining (Parent Pro Tip: always go one step further than you think you need to), we laughed about it — and decided it would be fun to show people what having a da Vinci brain looks like.
He’s obsessed with YouTube and asked to make a channel called DaVinci and Me. That account will stay private for now (or forever), but I’m looking forward to telling stories here — and showing him that creating content in all its forms is about storytelling, communicating a feeling, and making sense of the world in our own weird, wonderful way (and not just voyeuristically watching other kids play video games!).
So, welcome to DaVinci and Me — the Substack version.
Thanks for being here. Let’s see where this goes. ✨
What a beautiful backstory. And welcome to Substack, I can't wait to read your awesome writing, Ash!
